Excitement arose last week as Flappy Bird is set to return to our devices in 2025, but its creator, Dong Nguyen, has distanced himself from the new version, stating on X that he is not involved or profiting from it. The new team behind the revival, described as a “new team of passionate fans,” acquired the rights to Flappy Bird after Nguyen’s trademark was considered abandoned. Nguyen, who made significant profits before taking the game down due to its addictive nature, explained in an interview with Forbes that the decision to remove Flappy Bird was based on the game becoming more of a problem than a relaxation tool.
