Twitch announced an increase in Tier 1 sub and gift sub prices for mobile purchases, set to take effect on October 1. The new price will be $8 per month, up from the current $6 rate, while Tier 2 and Tier 3 prices will remain unchanged. This follows a previous increase in Tier 1 subscription prices for desktop users in the US from $5 to $6, which took effect in July. The decision to raise mobile subscription costs is thought to be a response to fees imposed by major tech companies for in-app purchases, with concerns over antitrust issues leading to changes in commission structures for these companies. Both Apple and Google have taken steps to adjust their fee structures in Europe in light of the Digital Markets Act.
