Amazon Games and developer Glowmade are combining influences from movies like The Running Man and Labyrinth, professional wrestling, and co-op 3D platformers with user-generated dungeon building to create their next title: King of Meat. Set in the Komstruck Koliseum, an arena that doubles as a Battle Royale-style TV show stage, players must fight through various stages while entertaining the audience and helping friends. The game incorporates WWE-inspired mechanics where audience participation affects gameplay, with rewards for completing bounties and earning currency for new weapons, costumes, and special attacks. Stylistically reminiscent of Fortnite and Castle Crashers, King of Meat features outlandish visuals and gameplay elements like over-the-top Glory Moves. However, concerns have arisen about the combat and pacing feeling underwhelming compared to the game’s presentation. Co-op gameplay and cross-platform dungeon building will be supported, but the lack of hands-on experience with dungeon creation leaves some uncertainty about the game’s potential. Despite this, the developer’s past experience with successful franchises hints at a promising future for King of Meat, set to release on PC, PS5, Xbox X/S, and Nintendo Switch with an official release date pending.
