A year after its initial tease, Analogue has announced the completion of its most complex project yet: rebuilding the Nintendo 64 from scratch. Set to be released in Q1 of 2025, the Analogue 3D will be available for pre-order on October 21 for $250. This system, like all of Analogue’s consoles, features an FPGA chip designed to emulate the original hardware of the N64, promising support for every official cartridge released worldwide with no performance issues. Analogue, known for its high-end retro console recreations, has gradually shifted to more mass-market productions, all supporting original physical media and controllers thanks to FPGA technology. While FPGA emulation has advanced significantly over the years, Analogue’s new project aims to break new ground by perfectly emulating the N64, a task that many have struggled with in the past. With an emphasis on image quality and detail, the Analogue 3D incorporates original display modes to replicate the experience of playing on CRT TVs. Additionally, variable refresh rate output and the powerful Intel Cyclone 10GX FPGA chip ensure a smooth gaming experience, even for titles with low frame rates. Ultimately, the Analogue 3D represents a significant achievement in video game preservation and a step forward in FPGA technology in the retro gaming community.
