    • In April 2025, several major zero-emission deployments were announced. HelloFresh added 70 Rivian electric vans, Benore Logistics integrated 14 Hyundai hydrogen trucks, and the city of Roseville purchased 12 electric transit vans, showcasing strong momentum for medium- and heavy-duty electric and hydrogen vehicle adoption across the U.S.
    • Transit agencies across the U.S. continue to introduce zero-emission solutions to their operations, including a mix of electric and hydrogen fueled buses and vans being deployed in South Carolina and California in April.

Medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles are hitting the road in 2025, and we’ve collected last month’s most exciting news. After another record year of zero-emission truck deployments in 2024, this year promises more big announcements. This monthly blog series will showcase the biggest orders and deployments of zero-emission trucks happening around the country.

April announcements included a new customer for Rivian vans, a large order of electric transit vans, and new hydrogen-powered trucks in Georgia, as well as others that you can read about below.

Rivian’s first non-Amazon van customer is HelloFresh

“Meal-kit company HelloFresh has added 70 all-electric Rivian vans to its fleet, the first major customer to buy the commercial EVs since the automaker ended its exclusive deal with Amazon. The 70 all-electric commercial vans represent nearly one quarter of HelloFresh’s fleet, which has already helped the company save an estimated 20,000 gallons of gasoline, according to a blog post the company posted Wednesday. HelloFresh said the shift to electric has reduced its CO2 emissions output by 200 tons.”

Benore Logistics adds 14 hydrogen Hyundai trucks to its fleet

“Hyundai Motor Company cracked into the U.S. commercial truck market late last year with 3PL Glovis America’s deployment of 21 XCIENT heavy-duty hydrogen fuel-cell electric trucks at the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America. The third-largest carmaker in the world by production continues to put its stamp on the States, as 14 of those Hyundai XCIENT hydrogen fuel cell trucks were added to the Benore Logistic Systems fleet. Benore’s partnership with Hyundai was established through its relationship with Glovis in Georgia and led to the successful start of business with Glovis EV America in Savannah. The trucks will be implemented onto dedicated routes in the Savannah area to service HMGMA.”

California city buys 12 new electric vans for Roseville Transit

“The city of Roseville is spending more than $2.4 million in federal funds for 12 new electric transit vans. City officials agreed last year to buy the Ford 350 E-Transit vans. The Roseville City Council approved an amendment to the deal last week for extra options included. Eight electric vans will replace Roseville Transit’s current diesel-powered microbuses, which are past their useful lives, said Zachary Presley, Roseville transportation planner.”

The South Carolina transit agency deploys two battery-electric and two hydrogen fuel cell buses

“The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (The COMET) deployed its new zero-emission buses into passenger service. Funded by a $2.9 million grant awarded by the Federal Transit Administration in 2021, the project brings two battery-electric and two hydrogen fuel cell buses to The COMET’s fleet. The new vehicles are now in pilot service and will be fully integrated into daily routes starting in May 2025.”

Check back here next month to see a collection of the most exciting zero-emission vehicle announcements from May. In the meantime, check out EDF’s Electric Fleet Deployment & Commitment List to track announcements as they happen in real time.
