Late Sunday night into the pre-dawn hours of Monday is the ideal time to witness the Perseids, with clear, dark skies being the best viewing conditions. No special equipment is needed to enjoy the colorful streaks of light created as debris from comet Swift-Tuttle interacts with Earth’s atmosphere. During its peak, as many as 100 meteors per hour may be visible, some of which may include fireballs for an extra spectacular show.
