Facebook will let creators remove account warnings if they complete ‘educational training’

Meta has announced a new policy aimed at helping creators avoid penalties for violating the platform’s community standards. Professional account holders will now have the option to complete in-app educational training to avoid receiving a strike for first-time offenses. This change comes in response to the frustration creators face when navigating Meta’s penalty system, which restricts access to certain features after multiple violations. The new rules allow creators to remove a warning for a first-time offense by viewing an explanation of the rule they broke. Serious offenses, such as content involving sexual exploitation or drug sales, cannot be removed. The focus is on correcting unintentional mistakes to prevent re-offending. Meta acknowledges criticism of its penalty system and is working towards a fairer and more effective approach. This latest change will initially impact creators with professional accounts and is expected to be expanded more widely in the future.
