Widely hailed as one of the greatest RPGs of all time, Disco Elysium’s future was once uncertain with a canceled sequel and expansion, developer layoffs, and an infamous battle over intellectual property ownership. However, a new studio, Longdue, is now working on a spiritual successor that promises to continue the narrative-first approach of the original game. Comprising former developers of Disco Elysium and other notable studios, Longdue’s first game is described as a “psychogeographic RPG” exploring the relationship between consciousness and environment. Inspired by classic RPGs, the team aims to create an experience that delves into inner worlds and external landscapes. Despite controversies surrounding the original game’s development team, lead designer and artist Robert Kurvitz and Aleksander Rostov have since set up their own company, Red Info, while Longdue carries on the legacy of Disco Elysium.
