macOS Sequoia will require regular permissions updates for screen recording and screen-sharing capabilities. The new Apple operating system has added pop-up notifications to confirm software access to video and audio, with no way to permanently grant permissions to third-party apps currently available. These permissions alerts will appear weekly and after relevant app reboots, including third-party screen recording apps and general programs like Zoom or Slack. reminiscent of User Account Controls from Windows Vista, this feature has yet to cause issues in the beta version of macOS Sequoia. Besides security features, Sequoia also introduces AI capabilities and the ability to mirror iPhone screens on Macbooks, as well as the option to block distracting pop-ups in Safari.
