Meta Quest 3S review: Impressive VR for $300

Meta Quest 3S features an angled profile with a USB-C port, eliminating the nifty lens spacing dial from the Quest 3. Users must manually adjust the lenses for optimal pupillary distance, which may be cumbersome for VR newcomers but is a one-time setup. The addition of an action button for quickly switching between mixed reality mode and immersive VR view enhances usability, although it slightly disrupts the design. The Touch Controllers are top-notch, offering smooth joysticks and responsive buttons. The Quest 3S boasts the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor and 8GB of RAM, providing improved performance and potential for more detailed textures. Despite some visual artifacts due to cheaper Fresnel lenses, the overall VR experience is snappy and immersive. The Quest 3S supports streaming from gaming PCs and offers a comfortable way to enjoy entertainment, such as movies and 360-degree videos. While the Quest 3S may not have the best cameras for extended use or provide the sharpest video quality, it offers a decent battery life of around two hours and 20 minutes. Overall, the Quest 3S addresses some drawbacks of its predecessors while providing a solid VR experience at a more affordable price point.
