Ahead of the full release of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia and more, Apple continues to bring updates to the betas available to early testers. Today, the company has released the fifth developer beta to those platforms, introducing changes to Safari and Photos. Safari now includes Distraction Control, a feature aimed at reducing distractions on cluttered websites by allowing users to hide certain elements. This is not an ad blocker, but rather a tool to eliminate overlays, subscription requests, and cookie pop-ups. Users can select which parts of a webpage to filter out, with the option to unhide items later. Distraction Control will not permanently remove ads or content that changes regularly. It also allows users to manage GDPR cookie requests and offers a redesigned Reader, Highlights, and Viewer features in Safari. Developers can access these new tools by opting into the beta, but should be prepared for potential bugs and quirks. Additionally, the update requires 7.11GB of storage.
