Apple has released the fifth developer beta for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, introducing new features to Safari and Photos. One notable addition is Distraction Control in Safari, which allows users to filter out distracting elements on websites, such as subscription overlays or cookie requests. This feature is not an ad blocker, and users must manually select which parts of a page they want to hide. It will not permanently remove ads or content that may change on subsequent visits. Additionally, users can hide GDPR cookie requests, and the website will be notified that the request was closed without an answer. The beta also includes a redesigned Reader and Highlights, as well as a new Viewer experience for videos. Users interested in testing these features should be aware of potential bugs and should back up their data before proceeding with the beta.
