As a former Mint user, I had to find a new budgeting app after Intuit shut down Mint in March 2024, prompting users to transition to Credit Karma. However, after finding Credit Karma to be a poor replacement, I explored other budgeting apps to manage my financial accounts, credit score, monthly spending, and financial goals like building a rainy-day fund and paying down my mortgage faster. To find the best budgeting app for my needs, I consulted Google, Reddit, and reviews on the App Store, and asked friends and colleagues for recommendations. After researching and testing six top budgeting apps, including Quicken Simplifi and Monarch Money, I found that Quicken Simplifi’s simplicity, user-friendly interface, accurate income tracking, and budgeting features make it a top choice for managing finances. The app offers detailed overviews of balances, spending, net worth, and upcoming payments, and allows for easy goal setting and tracking. While Monarch Money required more effort to set up and use, it offers a high level of detail and customization for budgeting and expenses. Ultimately, Quicken Simplifi emerged as the best budgeting app for 2024, offering ease of use, accurate tracking, and budget customization at an affordable price point of $48 per year.
