An Austin-based startup renowned for its VR and mixed reality workspace software for other companies’ headsets has now ventured into hardware with the Immersed Visor. Positioned between a Vision Pro Lite and Xreal Plus, this lightweight device offers a high-resolution spatial computing environment at a relatively affordable price. Unveiled by Immersed founder Renji Bijoy at an Austin event, the Visor boasts features like a 4K OLED screen for each eye, 100-degree field of view, 6DoF tracking, hand and eye tracking, and support for over five screens in a virtual or mixed reality environment. Weighing only 186g, slightly less than an iPhone 16 Pro, the Visor aims to address the weight and ergonomics issues faced by many VR and mixed-reality users. With no onboard experiences like games, the Visor is work-focused, enabling users to connect to their Windows, macOS, or Linux computer for a productive immersive workspace experience on virtual screens. Operating on the Qualcomm XR2+ Gen 2 chip, the Visor supports high-resolution content and smooth performance. Priced at $1,050 upfront or with subscription plans, the Immersed Visor aims to attract spatial computing enthusiasts seeking an affordable yet high-resolution alternative to existing devices.
